DAY 1 CHIANG MAI - SAMOENG - WAT CHAN
In the morning pick up from the hotel in Chiang Mai. Leave the northern capital and drive via the Mae Sa Valley and Samoeng to Wat Chan. On
this mountainous route you will pass some Hmong hill tribe villages as well. After a few more km on a dirt road you will finally arrive at the Karen Hill
Tribe Lodge. There is some time left to relax or take a stroll around the Karen village. Overnight at the simple, but clean lodge overlooking the nice
mountain wilderness. In the evening enjoy the camp fire and dinner.
DAY 2 WAT CHAN (KAREN HILL TRIBE LODGE)
After breakfast start for a short trekking tour for 2,5 to 3 hours along paddy fields and through the jungle until you will reach
a small waterfall, which does invite to take a cool bath. Then it is time for your picnic lunch. Afterwards ride on an elephant back (approx. 1,5 hrs)
before you are back at the Karen village. Time to observe the daily life and culture of the Karen people here in the green hills. Take some time to relax
at the lodge. If you wish to do so, then you get the chance to assist the mahout to bath the elephant in the river. And in the evening you will get the
opportunity to give a helping hand in preparing the Thai dinner and then taste your own food. Stay another night at the lodge.
DAY 3 WAT CHAN - MAE MALAI - CHIANG MAI
Early morning is more time left to observe traditional daily activities, such as rice pounding, weaving etc. Then leave the village and head
for Wat Chan. Have a brief stop at Baan Chan temple, which is more than 300 years old. Continue on some scenic steep and winding roads. Take a sid trip
to some hot springs at Huai Nam Dang National Park. Lunch break at a local restaurant. On route back to Chiang Mai some stops are possible, such as at
an orchid farm etc. Arrival in the afternoon and transfer to the hotel, airport or railway station, depends on your further itinerary.
