DAY 1 CHIANG MAI - MAE HONG SORN
Early morning pick up from the hotel and leave Chiang Mai. Full day tour on some steep and winding roads through the mountain wilderness via Pai. Do various stops on route, such as at an orchid farm and a local countryside market, but also at the giant Thum Lot cave near Soppong. Go on, passing some Lisu- and Lahu hill tribe villages. Have a look at some of them. Finally arrive Mae Hong Sorn in the late afternoon. Overnight.
DAY 2 MAE HONG SORN
Enjoy a scenic boat- or raft trip (it's your choice) on the Pai River. Afterwards drive to the Burmese border area and visit one of the Paduang villages (better known as "longnecks"). Some women of this tribe elongate their necks by adding brass neck rings annually from an early age. An optional elephant ride through the jungle can be arranged as well. Go on and visit the small town of Mae Hong Sorn with it's colourful Shan temples, Wat Doi Kong Moo on a hill top with great views and Wat Jong Klang at the picturesque city lake. Spend another night in Mae Hong Sorn.
DAY 3 MAE HONG SORN - CHIANG MAI
After breakfast leave Mae Hong Sorn in southern direction until you reach Khun Yuam. From here continue through the mountain wilderness to Mae Chaem. On route see Karen- and Hmong hill tribe villages. Then travel on through Doi Inthanon National Park. Do some brief stops, for example at one of the picturesque waterfalls etc. Finally reach the valley of the Ping River and arrive Chiang Mai in the late afternoon. Transfer to the hotel or continue your journey, depends on your further schedule.

REMARKS/FLEXIBILITY:
Instead of overland travel both ways it is possible to fly one way (either to Mae Hong Sorn on the 1st day or back to Chiang Mai on the 3rd day). If you wish to do so, please let us know at the time of booking.
